Welcome to Caldwell Pentecostal Holiness Church Wednesday Night Youth Group. Here we provide a fun, safe place for our youth to explore and learn about the spiritual side of life. Too often when teaching children and teens in today’s culture, churches focus more on entertainment and holding their attention than on the presentation of strong, biblical truth and application. Our goal in the youth ministry is to develop wholesome, mature, Christ-like young people. To accomplish this, there are five areas of the young person’s Christian life that we will continually emphasize:
1. Salvation (II Timothy 3:15) – Our primary focus is to preach & teach the true gospel of Christ. It is not in our interest to convict or judge anyone of any wrongdoing. Children and teens are welcome and loved no matter what they may have done. We are committed to present them and teach them, what is righteous and unrighteous. That God loves them no matter what and that they can always come back to God. Experience his unconditional love and acceptance back into the body of Christ.
2. Scripture Study (III John 4) – To grow properly in the Christian life, studying, learning and understanding scripture must be at the center. Children and teens will
be learning and studying scripture and encouraged to use those bible principles as a pattern for their everyday lives.
3. Separation (I Timothy 4:12) – Young people will learn principles of separation by developing a proper view of God and His holiness. Separation from ungodliness
and worldliness and unto God’s holiness as a way of life is God’s will for all believers.
4. Surrender/Confidence (Psalm 71:5) – Children and teens will learn that dedicating one’s life to God and letting Christ control every aspect of their life is essential for finding God’s will for their life. Because Christ so willingly gave His life for us, how much more should we desire to present our bodies a living sacrifice for Him.
5. Servanthood (I John 3:18) – If a Child or teen has the right view of themselves as a servant, then they are going to start reaching and affecting other people’s lives.
We will give our young people many opportunities to serve in our church and in our community.
As a 17 year old boy, God used David to defeat the giant Goliath. When no other man would stand against the Philistine, God chose to use a young man to honor His name and defend the nation of Israel. In I Samuel 17:29, David says “is there not a cause” to live and honor the Lord with my life. David realized that even though he was “but a youth,” God could use anyone if fully surrendered to Him. David was willing to honor God with his life regardless of the outcome or circumstances. Our goal and my prayer is that God will raise up a group of young people that will exercise the kind of faith David displayed against Goliath and that God will produce Christlike young men and women fully surrendered to Him. Thank you for allowing us to partner with you in preparing your children to be everything that God wants them to be. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Wednesday nights youth group is a classroom/discussion environment with Thomas (TC) Drumheller as your teacher. Each class will start out with one question, “What is something good that has happened to you this week?” The purpose for this question is to try and shift your focus to the good things that God blesses us with during the past week, rather than focus on what bad things might have happen. This will be followed by prayer requests and prayer, leading into the message. It is highly encouraged that your child brings a Bible of their choice that they can read and understand according to their age level each Wednesday night.
Thomas (TC) will often but not always assign assignments for his class; each assignment will pertain to the following weeks class. The assignments will be light and not long and should not take longer than 30 minutes max to complete. Most assignments will be learning new bible verses or light research on a given topic. Thomas highly encourages each child to do their assignments, this will be noted in a point system. The point system will be based on, attendance, having their bibles, homework completed, bringing a friend, and possibly others as time goes on. If a “Learning Series” is being taught, for example “The 10 Commandments”, “23 Psalms”. At the end of the series it is expected for your child to know and recite the Bible verses taught. This is to help you overcome stage fright and to help you learn as well as look back upon them for encouragement in troubling times. This should not be too hard because each week they will learn and go over new bible verses incrementally till the end of the series. Every child that can recite the bible verses or content asked at the end of the series will be rewarded.
I look forward to you joining us this coming Wednesday night. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at anytime.
